
It was June 05, 1992 when Rangers and Pakistan Army operation against Sindh’s Marauders entered in 2nd week, Operation head Major Arshad Jameel Awan claimed that nine marauders had been killed by the army and that ammunition and guns in huge quantity had been recovered from them. As per army claim the marauders were on payroll of Indian Spy Agency “RAW”.
The news spread in whole country like a fire in a jungle, that time Prime Minister Mr. Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asif Nawaz accompanied with Care Taker of Sindh ISPR Brig ® Soulat Raza reached at the bank of Indus River where the Army claimed off the action. Prime Minister announced prize money for officer and his counter parts who participated in the operation. Journalist Naaz Sehtu news editor of Sindh English Paper the Observer and Sindhi Newspaper Khadim e Watan belongs to this Area “Tandu Bahwal” where the operation held. After getting phenomenal appreciation from all our the country the local Journalist started removing dust from the incident, Naaz Sehtu came to know about the actual facts which chilled the bone marrow of Chandio’s Tribe old Women Mai Jindoo who had lost his son Bahdur, Minthhar & son in law Haji Akram during this operation.
Mai Jindoo proliferate her voice against the incident then dust started dimming and actual facts came out revealing that Major Arshad Jameel relatives actually wanted Agricultural Land of Chandio’s Tribe they asked Major for help and the whole operation was carried out to acquire the land. After these chilling facts Army came into action GOC Hyderabad Major General Saleem Ul Haq and his Counter Part Brigadier had been removed from their designations, Major Arshad Jameel Awan and his operation counter parts had been Field General Court Marshaled, but Mai Jindoo and her family waited a long for justice.
We could call it Slow Judicial System or demerits exist in our system for speedy Justice Mai Jindoo had to wait for four years for justice along with two more Sacrifices of her two Daughters Hakim Zadi & Zaib Un Nisa who committed suicide in front of court by firing themselves on September 11, 1996.
At last after rejection of Major Arshad Pardon Appeals, Major was hang till death on October 28, 1996 in Central Jail Hyderabad in front of Mai Jindoo.
Mai Jindoo passed away last day on July 06, 2022 with the message of bravery and valor that a women can not only stand against this male chauvinist society but also against the powerful institutions and persons as well.
